What is the difference in size between a queen and king size duvet?

I have a queen, but the duvet cover I want is only available in king size. I was told that there is only a difference of 6 inches between a queen and a king bed. If this is true would that make a big difference if I one king duvet on a queen? Would it look really oversized?

A King sized mattress is 76 "x 80". A California king mattress is size 72 "x 84". A queen mattress is 60 "x 80". Thus, the length of a king and queen beds are the same, but there is a 18 "difference wide. Regarding your duvet cover, one should say the size on the package. The king size is probably too big.
